LOVE LIKE…
Good morning Pensa & Youth!
The word that has been really strong on my heart is love! This lead me to 1 Corinthians 13:1-13. Chapter 13 talks about the importance of love. Love is so fundamentally important in our faith and walk with God. Verse 1 states that “if I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal”.
That is so profound. We can be as deep and spiritual as we want to be but if we don’t love or show love, all of that is null and void.
Verse 4-7 is so telling! It describes the characteristics of love. It is patient, kind, does not envy nor does it boast. It is not selfish and not easily angered and hold no grudges. Lastly love rejoices in the truth!
Love can be displayed and acknowledged in different types of relationships. I want us to focus on the concept of Philia love. Philia is the Greek term for “brotherly love” and essentially represents the love we encounter and should share daily.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 embodies what our ministry is meant to represent. It represents the way in which we should treat people we meet both in and outside of church. Let this verse be our constant approach and may our love with those we encounter always be be genuine.
Verse 13 states “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love”, This verse re-enforces the important of love! Make it a point to do everything with love. Rejoice with love, take criticism with love, Worship with love, celebrate others with love, speak with love and welcome with love. I want to challenge everyone to set a goal (both personal and ministry related) for 2018 focused on how you plan to emulate love and do so outwardly.
Praying that you will all feel God’s love stronger than ever today. Stay blessed
