THE HUMBLE NATURE OF ESTHER, BEAUTY WITH HUMILITY.

Bible Reference: Esther 2:10, 1Peter 5:5

Good morning everyone,

We thank our God for such another wonderful day.We thank Him for His gift of grace and endless love for us through Christ Jesus our Lord and saviour. May His name be praised now and forever.

Like I said yesterday, we will dedicate this week to study the book of Esther and we began yesterday by the introduction part of the the book.Today we will be looking at HUMILITY, which is a characteristic found of the young beautiful Esther.

Esther despite her beauty, and the favour she had from the king, never disregarded the instructions of her uncle, Mordecai. In verse 7 of chapter 2, the bible gives us a clear picture of how Esther looked, LOVELY and BEAUTIFUL.These are the two words used in description of Esther, but upon all her beauty she was humble.

It should be noted that, even though Mordecai was not Esther’s biological father, she still obeyed him.In our modern days respect for our own biological parents is almost fading out even among christian homes.It is becoming difficult to to distinguish between youths who are raised by Christian parents and those raised by non christian parents.

When God blesses us with beauty, handsomeness, riches, etc it is not for our self interest but rather for the glorification of our Maker.May be our parents never had the opportunity to get to the level of education we find ourselves, or did they get the privileges we have now, that doesn’t mean we are wiser than them, nor should it lead us to disrespect them, we still have to humble ourselves to the instructions of them.

Not only should it be our parents, as we can see from this account, Mordecai was not the biological father of Esther, it can be your sister, your friend, your pastor, elder, youth leader etc, we still have to humble ourselves. As it can be found in 1Peter 5:5 “Likewise you that are younger be subject to elders.Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for ” God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble”.

What are some of the benefits that comes with HUMILITY?

1. It brings about the favour of God in every aspect of life( Esther 2:9,  1 peter 5:5, Proverbs 3:34)

2. There is abundance of God’s grace ( James 4:6)

3. Uplifting by God ( James 4:10)

4. God hears the prayers of humble people (2 Chronicles 7:14)

5. God forgives the sins of humble people. ( 2Chronicles 7:14)

6. It brings about wisdom ( Proverbs 11:12)

7. It brings riches, honour and life ( Proverbs 22:4)

8. It brings about Gods guidance (Psalm 25:9)

9.It brings victory for us (Psalm 149:4)

All these and many more are benefits that comes along with Humility and it was not surprise the humble nature of Esther made her find favour in the sight of the king by Gods grace.

I will end by saying, as young ones especially as christian youth, Humility is a requirement of us by God ( Micah 6:8).

Its my prayers even as you go through some of the referenced bible verses, the Holy Spirit will speak and minister unto you and you will learn how to be humble like Esther.
