HOW DOES THE WORLD SEES US, IS THERE ANY DISTINCTION BETWEEN US AND THE WORLD, THE CASE OF MORDECAI AND HIS PEOPLE AND OTHER RELATED CASES.

Bible Reference: Esther 3:8
                            Daniel 3:18
Good morning everyone,
We thank our God for such wonderful day and time like this.We give Him all the praise and worship.May His name be praised forever.
Today in our discussion we will be looking at a very interesting case study found in the book of Esther and relate it to other similar case studies in the bible and and find out if we are making progress in our christian walk or we are loosing the battle.
From our bible reference, we can see a clear distinction between the Jews and the other people in the provinces, and even though they were foreigners in the land, they never compromised their faith and what they believe in. They stood for what they believed no matter the consequences.
The boldness of Mordecai not bowing down to Haman is also an important thing we shouldn’t overlook.I believe Mordecai might have read the law and knew we should bow down to only God and no one else.He knew who Haman was and what he is capable of doing but yet never stood for who he was.
What can we learn from the verse 8 of chapter 2, well it is clear that as christians, no matter where we find ourselves, whether in school, work place, anywhere, we should demonstrate a lifestyle that will distinguish us from the rest and the beauty of God will be seen through us.In these days of our time, it is practically impossible to distinguish between those of us who are christians from those who are not.
We watch the very same thing they watch, we dress the very same way they do, we go to places which are prone to temptation and we see nothing wrong with it.In our schools with our friends, we laugh about things which are ungodly and love the the things the world likes. Our hearts chases the very same thing the world chase, God is no more our priority, its all about ourselves and in these days some christians don’t mind to deny  God and get whatever they want, we cant even defend our faith and so gradually we are loosing the battle.
This verse in my view is no different than the one seen in the book of Daniel 3:18. The bold proclamation made by Daniel on behalf of his three friends is a true mark of people who were willing to die rather than to disobey God.
This lead me to the first question, what are we willing to die for? Do we have something as believers to even die for? People went to jail for their faith, some were stoned, some were beheaded, others went though a whole lot of afflictions, but in all they stood firmly and never denied God.
What is the church today willing to suffer for in the name of God? We cant even talk about our faith to our friends just for the basic reason that our actions will not reflect who we will say we are.
Coming to the new testament we see also numerous examples of the disciples standing in front of kings and rulers defending their faith and willing to die just as their master died. The question now is what has changed in our time. Does it mean our God is no longer able to deliver us from prisons and rescue us from the fire anymore.
It is time for us to wake up, it is time for us to be seen different not just because on Sundays because we don’t have work to go, we dress and walk into a building and think that is all what God requires of us.
If you find yourself in school, don’t be shy to let people know your faith, in our work place, when we are in the trains, in the buses, wherever we are just as the Jews who were scattered in the provinces were identified as different people with different law, we should also be seen different from the world.
We are the light of the world, we should let our light so shine.
God bless you
