BELIEVERS, LET OUR SHINE WHEREVER WE ARE.
BELIEVERS, LET OUR SHINE WHEREVER WE ARE.
Bible Reference: Ephesians 5:8-11, Luke 16:8
Good morning everyone,
We thank God for such a wonderful day and we are grateful for how far He has brought us. We thank our God for given us what we dont deserve, that is His grace and we are grateful for His love for us through Christ Jesus our Lord.
The second month of the year is ending soon and we will be entering into the third month of the year so in view of that i would like to share with you this morning about the need for our light to shine as believers.
As believers we are known to be children of light because we are indwelled by Christ Jesus who is the LIGHT.In this regard, it is expected of us for our lifestyle to reflect the light within us rather than the darkness of the world.
As christian youth, I will say it is a command for us to shine and reprove any unfruitful works wherever we find ourselves.
What then are some of the expectations of christian youth who has been bought by the precious blood of Christ?
1. First and foremost it is expected of us not to have fellowship with unfruitful works of darkness as it can be found in Ephesians 5:11.We are to expose any unfruitful works of darkness as believers.
2. It is also expected of us as believers especially christian youth not to make any provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires (Romans 13:14).
3.Flee from YOUTHFUL LUST and we should be able to condemn sin anytime anywhere noticed.( 2 Timothy 2:22)
4.As believers it is expected of us to honour those that fear the Lord.(Psalm 15:4)
In all these expectations as christian youth, we are also instructed to shine in everything we do by living a life that is righteous and blameless before the Lord.
What then is it expected of us as christian youth?
The following scriptures will help us to know what it means to live a righteous and blameless life.
1) 2Timothy 2:1-3: We are to live in humility and we are also to endure persecution
2) Matthew 5:37. A consistent righteous life is a true mark of a believer.
3) Colossians 3:5-6. We have to put to death any trace of unrighteousness.
4).Romans 12: 11. As christian youth and those of us who are still in school, it is expected of us to live a balanced life by excelling not only in our spiritual growth but also in our academics.
5) Matthew 5:14: There should be evident of good works.
To conclude for todays discussion, we are expected as christian youth to also show others the way which means it is our responsibility to preach Christ to others simply by the life we live ( 1John 2:3-6), we are also to preach Christ to others by evangelical programmes( Romans 10:14-15) which is a duty of every believer.
It is important also to note that not just preaching but we have to preach with compassion ( John 4:35, 2 Timothy 2:25-26).Finally as believers anytime we go before God, we have to pray for salvation for others and the people surrounding us who are not believers ( Romans 10:1)
