WHAT IS YOUR INHERITANCE?
1Bible Reference: 1Peter 1:4 “and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you”
Good morning everyone,
We thank God for such another beautiful day. We give Him all the praise.
Today in our search for scriptures we will be looking at the inheritance prepared for us as believers and why we should strive for such great promise.
As believers we obtain our inheritance in Christ who was destined even before the foundation of the world which we have received by Gods power through faith.
Because of this hope we have in Christ Jesus, we rejoice knowing well that “we were once ransomed from the futile ways which we were by nature we inherited from our fathers, by the precious blood of Christ Jesus.”You are special, saved not by perishable things but by the precious blood of Christ.
Not just are we saved through the precious blood of Christ, but also because God raised Christ from the dead, we have confidence in Him( 1 Peter 1: 22). For this reason our faith and hope is in God because we have Christ who is the perfecter of our faith. The goal of every believer is to make it to heaven because that is where we have our inheritance and this inheritance is our reward ( Colossians 3:24).
Now lets take a look at this great inheritance we have.
From our bible reference we come across a description of what our inheritance in Christ which is in heaven.
1.This great inheritance is imperishable. As a chemist, I will say this inheritance has no half life and is not subject to decay, it is not subject to corruption. The things we obtain on this earth are all subject to decay, and are all perishable but but our inheritance in heaven is everlasting(Matthew 6:19-20).
As a born again child of God, it is important to know that you are “not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of god”( 1Peter 1:23).
2.This great inheritance in Christ is unfading:( Revelation 21:5).
3.This great inheritance is undefiled.There is nothing on earth that can deform this great inheritance.There is nothing on this planet earth that is perfect.In everything on this earth, we can find some imperfection , but Christ truly perfect, “For it is fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, unstained, separated from sinners, exalted above heavens”.
How then have we received this inheritance
1. By the will and purpose of God.(Ephesians 1:11)
2.By hearing the word, which is the gospel through which we believed in Christ.( Ephesians 1:13)
3. Through the sealing of the Holy Spirit( Ephesians 1:13-14)
To conclude with I will leave you to meditate upon this bible verse “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”( Matthew 6:19-20)
