DONT BE A SLAVE TO THE PASSIONS OF YOUR FORMER IGNORANCE
DONT BE A SLAVE TO THE PASSIONS OF YOUR FORMER IGNORANCE.
But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. 6 Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba,Father.”
In these three verses, we are made to understand the greater love God has for us by sending Christ to us.How gracious is this our God, to sent the Spirit of Christ into our hearts so that through Him, we are no longer slave to our former nature.
Before we were saved, we did know God, in other words we were far off from his presence, and as a results we were in bondage. This particular verse tells us as Christians that apart from being in Christ, anything we find ourself doing or we find ourself in is a bondage.
If there is something that should consume your mind and heart as young christian, then it should be the things of God, the desire to know Him more and more, the readiness to receive from Him anytime and anywhere, the willingness to serve Him and obey Him.
As young Christians and as ambassadors for Christ, it is expected of us to demonstrate a lifestyle that shows we are no more under bondage. In our schools, we have to distant ourselves from things that contradict the teachings of God even if the majority are into it.We should be able to demonstrate to others the love of God for humanity through our conduct.
As people who have Gods Spirit, who is the counsellor according John 14 26 “But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counsellor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name , He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you”, we should let our lifestyle bring others to God.We were ignorant before but now that we have been saved, we cannot continue to live in that same sinful nature.
Paul in this letter to the Galatians in chapter verse 20, makes it clear to us as to how we ought to live as people who have been crucified with Christ. As young christians and soldiers of the cross, and as people who have been cleansed by the precious blood of Christ, it is our responsibility to also share the good news which we have received to others.
One of our main responsibility when we come to Christ is to win souls.Unfortunately in this generation soul winning is something not to talk about, because we have not been able to demonstrate to the world the reason for them to accept the good news.
We still live in our old nature, we still love the very same things we did when we sinners, the places we were not suppose to go but because of ignorance we went, yet after our salvation we still find ourselves in those places.
Our way of life, our dressing, our speech etc is almost the same. For how long are we going to live in this form, if you know your remaining days on earth, will you live the lifestyle you are in now?.
If indeed we are saved, we should bear the fruit of righteousness, our prayer life should change, we shouldn’t wait until 31st night night or some special programme before we exercise our prayer gymnastics.Pray without ceasing.
Have quality time for God in your study of His word, be attentive to His commandments, trust in Him and He will never fail you.
Its my prayer even as we approach Easter, we will put to death our old nature, and live as people who have indeed encountered God.
God bless you.
