THE DIVINE GRACE IN REPENTANCE AND REFORMATION

Bible Reference. Jonah 3:5-10  “The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.
Good morning everyone,

We thank God for such  wonderful day in our life.We give him all the glory for his steadfast love and his abundant grace we have through Jesus Christ our saviour.

Today we will be looking at repentance and the benefits that comes with it.Repentance could simply be viewed in terms of our christian walk as returning to our creator or turning away from evil things.

We all know story of Jonah and his mission at Nineveh from our sunday school days or even have heard it from our youth meetings.

God sent Jonah to Nineveh to proclaim his message to them. The people after receiving the message believed in God and repented.Their repentance and believe in God made God change his mind on the evil which he had said he would do to them.

Here we see the demonstration of one of the attributes of our God, which is LOVE and FORGIVINESS.

Before we go into our main topic let us take note of these two important things from this book of Jonah which are applicable to us as young christians

1.The responsibility of christians to carry Gods message to those who have not heard or are not believers.

Perhaps the Lord keeps asking you to share his word to others, but you keep on neglecting the command of God and many souls are been perished because of your refusal to share the word of God to others.Note from this passage that a very word we may share with others may convince them and will teach them that humbling themselves to God, and also confessing their sin to God in prayers are ways from escaping the wrath of God.

2.Ability to repent from our evil deeds and return to God.

Most christians are still victims of this not only unbelievers. There are majority of christians who claim to have been saved and have accepted Christ but yet continually live in sin and love the things of the world and love what God hates.

From our bible reference, not only did the people just believed, they repented from their evil ways and as a result God had mercy on them.

Today it might not be Jonah nor Nineveh, it is you and I.Everyday we hear the word of God, but we keep on hardening our heart, but today I want to encourage you that no matter how far and how many times you have neglected God, if only you will believe in him and repent from the evil deeds, and cry unto him in prayers, he is faithful and just God to forgive and to grant us grace.

The time is now, the grace may not be available tomorrow, act now and save your soul from the wrath of God.

May be by the grace of God, you have repented and are in good standing before the Lord, it is our responsibility to take the gospel to those who are in darkness and have not yet seen the light.

Every soul is important to the Lord.

Its my prayer you will win souls for the LORD and if you are still living in sin, you will repent from your sin and return to the LORD.

God bless you.
