STAND FAST IN FAITH AND HOLINESS

STAND FAST IN FAITH AND HOLINESS.

1John 2:24-26. Therefore, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that He has promised us eternal life.

26 These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him”.

We thank God for such a wonderful day like this. We thank him for his gift of grace, granting unto us sinners what we do not deserve through Christ Jesus. May his name be praised forever.

The means to put in end to sin and to unite us to Christ is well established in almost all the books in the new testament which is basically allowing the truth of Christ to abide in us (John 15:3-4).It is interesting to know how the very same things that was mentioned in chapter 1 of this book go in hand with all the things in chapter 2.

As young Christians, the question one should ask is what does it mean to stand fast in faith and holiness or to remain in Christ? It is important we ask some of these questions rather than just reciting slogans year after year without really understanding what it means or how it impact our Christian life.

In verse 4 of 1 John 2, we can see the emphasis placed on Christians who claim to know Christ as we saw in our studies yesterday. Why is the author of this book spending almost two chapters talking about what really shows one knows Christ? The answer to the question asked earlier, what does it mean to stand fast in faith and holiness or to remain in Christ?  is found in verse 4 and 5 of 1 John 2 and verse 6 of 1 John 1.

From verse 25 of our bible verse, before the promise of God for will be made sure we ought to stand fast in faith and holiness. Gods promise for us as believers is suitable for his own POWER, GREATNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, and all the attributes you can think of. This promise is eternal life, a life full of happiness, joy, worship, peace etc.

I am certainly convinced that if there is this eternal life for the righteous, then eternal suffering for the wicked is also true.

In verse 27, the author tries to remind us about the Spirit of truth which doesn’t lie. As Christ said regarding the Holy Spirit, he teaches all things in every situation we find ourselves in this dispensation.

Apostle Peter in his second book talks about the same thing even in a more clearer way “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to LIFE and GODLINESS, through the KNOWLEDGE of him who called us to his OWN GLORY (2 Peter 1:3).

I believe this piece of word will cause you to ask your self whether you are still in the faith or whether you are still abiding in him or not. Its my prayer the good Lord will show himself great in our life for us to live a holy and blameless life for his own glory and excellence.

God bless you.
