THE SIMPLICITY, PRACTICALITY AND SUFFICIENCY OF THE WORD OF GOD
THE SIMPLICITY, PRACTICALITY AND SUFFICIENCY OF THE WORD OF GOD
(We need no other argument)
Bible Reference: 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
Good morning everyone,
It is yet another beautiful day given to us by God. His mercies and love for us is beyond human understanding, may His name be praised now and forever.
Today in our search for scriptures we will be looking at how the bible can be made practical in our life as Christians especially youth. The bible is viewed as a more complex book that most Christians today think it does not contain all the things we need in this generation or perhaps does not address issues practically.
In my point of view, I think such assumptions made by most Christians has led the numerous publications of various kind of so called Christian books. It is becoming extremely dangerously that people think these so called Christian books are more practical and makes more sense in terms of how we can live our life more than the bible.
I am afraid at the rate at which many people are hiding behind Christianity and making business. I wouldn’t be surprise if in the next years to come, the bible may not be carried by Christians anymore and may solely rely on these kinds of books with fancy titles.
Some of these fancy titles that most of us know include but not limited to
- 100 keys to successful relationship
- 10 best keys in building good relationship
- Tips for successful marriage etc
I may sound like a legalistic or more traditional, but I think everything we need regarding these life issues are clearly outline in the bible with examples.
Let us now consider what the bible says about how we ought to live with one another
- The bible makes it clear to us that as Christians we must be sincere in everything we do (Philippians 1:10)
- We can also find in the bible examples of people showing interest in people’s issue and committed to go through with them even if it will cause them their life (2 Kings 2:2, Job 2:11)
- The bible also encourages us as Christians to do good to others as we also expect to be done to us (Luke 6:31)
- The bible also teaches us the type of people we should associate with in other that we are not carried away by their negative influence (Proverbs 22:24-25)
- The bible also warns us against flattering (Proverbs 29:5-6, Psalm 12:2-3)
- The bible encourages us to criticize honestly (Proverbs 28:23, Proverbs 27:5-6)
- Inviting or joining people for their birthday or any special occasion is encouraged (Job 1:4)
- Best inspiring and motivational sentences are found in the bible. These are few of them (Lamentations 3:22-23, Zephaniah 3:17, Psalm 91:11 Psalm 16:11, Jeremiah 29:11)
Keys to successful marriage, ways to influence friends, keys to good relationship etc can all be found in the bible if only we will ask the Holy Spirit to speak and teach us anytime we study the bible. I believe if we soak ourselves with the word of God all these so-called Christians books will become a secondary matter because the bible is sufficient.
The people of old never had access to these books, but they loved their neighbours, they were sincere, honest committed, etc.
Its not just about making new friends but how we can use the God given talent and knowledge to bring new people to the faith and once we get the opportunity to make new friends, our goal is to use that opportunity to share the good news, just as Philip did when he met the Ethiopian Eunuch (Acts 8:26-40).
We already have enough that we can make good use of before we can think of any other sources.
Our take home verse for today is 2 Peter 1:3.
God bless you.
