THE BLESSINGS IN REPENTANCE

Bible Reference: Hosea 14:1 Return, Israel, to the Lord your God.
Your sins have been your downfall!

Glory be to God the Father and Christ Jesus our savior for granting unto us this special day full of His blessings, glory, love and protection. We thank God for keeping watch over us throughout the night, we slept but we woke up again in safety because the LORD was watching over us (Psalm 3:5). May His name be praised now and forever?

Today in our search for scriptures we will be looking at repentance and the blessings associated with it. In most cases when we talk about repentance, we tend to cast our mind outside the Christian community and think it only applies to the unbelievers. To some extent yes but it goes beyond that and it also applies to some of us who profess to be believers but still lives in darkness.

It is important for us as young Christians to admit that anything we do that contradict the will of God puts us in the position to repent. We may have been in church for many years perhaps throughout our life on earth we have been in church that does not guarantee us the blessings of God if we do not live in accordance to His instructions.

Since the day of Adam to this time it is clear from the bible that it has always been God who makes a call on us as can been seen clearly in our memory verse. The coming of Christ to the world to die for our sins is also a clear example of Gods love for us.

The responsibility is upon us to respond to such a great call from God for us to experience His blessings. Our responsibility is to first acknowledge the sin within us and confess to God. He alone has he power to redeem us from our iniquity only if we acknowledge it. (Psalm 14:2).

Most Christians in one way or the other find themselves in sin but at the same time comfortably living in such sin with no regret nor desire to repent from it. Until we repent from our sins we will never experience Gods blessings and great promises.

These blessings of God for us are not the perishable things found on earth and this is where most Christians limits the blessings of the Almighty God to earthly perishable things.

We all know that there are non-believers who are making it well per the worldly standard of blessing, but this great blessing from God when we repent and return to Him is beyond human imagination. It is not quantifiable, it is eternal, it is not perishable, and it is given to us freely from God.

Let us take a look at some of these blessings

  • The free love of God (Hosea 14:4)
  • Healing us from the damage caused by sin (Hosea 14:14)
  • God receiving us graciously (Hosea 14:2)
  • Escaping from the wrath of God (Hosea 14:4)
  • We shall also be blessing to others (Hosea 14:6)
  • We will hate sin because of the Spirit in us (Hosea 14:8)

How gracious is God to grant unto us all these great blessings just by confessing and returning to Him. I don’t know what is keeping you from experiencing this great promise, today the LORD is calling you and reminding you that no matter how great those iniquities are, He is ready to receive us.

This may sound too traditional because you might have heard this calling over and over, but that does not make it false as many people think. This might be the only time we have, tomorrow might be too late, return to the LORD and save yourself from the unquenchable lake of fire.

On that day, we will have no excuse and the grace will be no more. There is no perfect time that day you hear the message of God. Our savior is coming soon make good use of these days before its too late.

Hosea 14:2 ‘Take words with you and return to the Lord. Say to him: “Forgive all our sins and receive us graciously, that we may offer the fruit of our lips’’.

God bless you
