THERE IS A NEED FOR ACTIONS FOR BREAKTHROUGH (A CASE STUDY ABOUT JABEZ)
THERE IS A NEED FOR ACTIONS FOR BREAKTHROUGH
(A CASE STUDY ABOUT JABEZ)
1 Chronicles 4:9-10 “And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare with sorrow.10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”
Good morning believers in Christ,
We thank our God who created the heavens and earth and everything within by the Word. We thank Him for the gift of grace given to us through Jesus Christ who before the foundation of the earth existed and called us to his saving knowledge and delivered us from the powers of darkness. May his name be praised now and forever.
As Christians we and children of God, we have been created by the supreme God to take dominion over and to subdue the earth. This promise is true, but it does not come with challenges and oppositions mounted by the enemy who from days of old has always seek for de destruction of the good things promised to us by God.
In most cases in our Christian walk, our success and progress appear to be unachievable, both academically, financially, walking righteously with God etc. It becomes more embarrassing when one possesses the required potential to accomplish such success.
As Christians it is important for us to understand that, life is spiritual and there is the need for spiritual breakthrough to overcome such limitations created by the enemy. Certain hidden treasures cannot be achieved or obtained unless we pray about and search them diligently.
Apostle Paul in the book of Philippians 4:6 gives a solution to how as Christians we should handle issues that confronts us and challenges our spiritual and physical needs. In our prayers, Paul encourages us to plead or beg for God’s mercy, so we can have what we desire (SUPPLICATION). This means that a key to unlock the supernatural blessings and the ability to obtain success is by supplication and prayers.
From our bible verse it is seen that Jabez was faced with what we can term is generational curse. This gives a clue that there were certain blessings Jabez needed which could only be obtained by taken actions. (PRAYERS). There are many of us who per our background or the family to which we come from, though Christians but are faced with other challenges or bondages that can only be overturn by prayers.
God knew the challenges or the heart desire of Jabez, but until Jabez acted these challenges were still hanging on his neck. Similar to this case is the story of Hannah, the mother of Saul, though she used to go to Shiloh yearly, but until Hannah realized there was the need for action, she wouldn’t have experienced her breakthrough.( 1 Samuel 1:10-11)
There are countless of examples that people had their breakthrough only when they took actions and sought the face of God in prayers ( Daniel 2:16, 2 Kings 20:3). From all these instances it is seen that their breakthrough was achieved through prayers.
Moral Lessons from the Case of Jabez
- Dissatisfaction with our present situation if not in the will of God: Jabez realize that his present situation was not what God has purposed for him and therefore needed to act.
- Acknowledgment of the sovereignty and power of God (He wasn’t just dissatisfied with his present situation, but he also acknowledged that God has the power to deliver him.
- Praying to God in all situation: Though he was dissatisfied with his present situation, he acknowledged Gods sovereignty, yet he wouldn’t have had his breakthrough without praying.
- Having faith in God and believing that God has the power to save: He didn’t just pray as many Christians do, he believed that the person to whom he was praying to can and will do what he had prayed for.
Finally, it is important for us as Christians to know that, although we have a great assurance from God that whatever we will ask will be given to us and indeed this saying is true but there are conditions attached to it and that is God want us to be righteous in his sight and live a pure and Holy life.
I believe strongly if we obey the commandments of our God and walk in holiness, though opposition and challenges may come our way, but God will deliver us from all through our prayers.
God bless you.
