BEWARE OF FALSE TEACHING, LET THE WORD GUIDE YOU
BEWARE OF FALSE TEACHING, LET THE WORD GUIDE YOU.
Bible Reference 2 Peter 3:17 ” You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, beware lest you be carried away with the error of lawless men and lose your own stability”
Good morning everyone,
Blessed be the name of God our creator and Christ Jesus our Lord and saviour for his great and endless love for us. May His name be praised now and forever.
Today we will be a looking at a very short message but very relevant to our christian walk especially we been youth in this part of the world
I will be sharing with you various bible verse that reminds us of about false teaching as a way of reminder to us all.
False teaching is something of that has been in existence for years even before Christ came to this earth, false teachers existed.
“And the Lord said to me: “The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds.( Jeremiah 14:14).
Because most christians today are lazy to find time and study the word especially those of us who have the privilege to read and understand, many people are taking advantage of this weakness of most christians and they secretly bring in destructive heresies.( 2 Peter 2:1-3).
For this reason, many christians today have itching ears when it comes to matter of the truth.
It is becoming more difficult for christians to spend quality time into understanding the word of God, even though we have all the resources in this generation.
If the bible is indeed our manual, how then is it difficult for us to study this manual. We spend hours and days in things that does not bring glory to the Lord or increase us spiritually.
The word of God is seen as boring and powerless to most christians today.
As christians we have to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them (Romans 16:17).
How do we watch out?
The only way we can distinguish between false teaching and true teaching is when we ourselves, with the help of the Holy Spirit understand the word that was preached to us.
Spending time in searching for scriptures and memorizing verses is of importance to every believer. When Christ was tempted, in almost all his temptations, he overcame the devil by the words of God.
Does the bible caution us about false teachers?
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. ( Matthew 7:15-20)
What should we do as believers in regards to false teachers?
I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.(Romans 16:17-18)
O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge,” for by professing it some have swerved from the faith. Grace be with you( 1 Timothy 6:20-21)
These verse and many more reminds us as christians to be aware of false teachers.
God bless You.
