WHAT DO YOU SET YOUR HEART ON, WHAT OCCUPIES YOUR HEART, THINGS OF GOD OR THINGS OF THE WORLD?

Bible Reference: Ezra 7:10 ” For Ezra has set his heart to study the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach his statutes and ordinances in Israel.”
Psalm 1:1-2 ” Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in his law he meditate day and night.”
God morning everyone,
We thank God for such a wonderful day and time like this, we thank him for his endless love and grace for us through Christ Jesus our Lord. Many were the plans of the enemy, but God has has kept us safe not because of of our righteousness  but because of his abundant grace. We also thank him for the life of those who are going through persecution and affliction for Christ sake and even for those who have lost their life not because they did something evil, but because of Christ, we know because He Christ lives, they shall also live and we can face tomorrow through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Today we will be looking at what really occupies our heart as young christians. As I have shared with you sometime ago about delighting in the things of God, today its more of a question that I would like you to answer after you are done reading.
As young christians in this part of the world, where time is a precious commodity, it is becoming practically difficult for young christians to devote quality time in the study of the word of God.In my view, one of the reasons why we cant challenge and rebuke false accusations raised by people of the world in regards to our faith and even the bible is because we don’t understand it ourselves and so we tend to believe in those accusations and some are even carried away from their faith.
From our first bible reference, Ezra the son of Seraiah is known to be scribe skilled in the law of Mosses which was given to the Israel by God.How did he became skilled in the law?The answer to this question is found in verse 10 of this same chapter ” For Ezra has set his heart to STUDY the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach his statutes and ordinances in Israel”.
Some things to note from this bible reference
1) Ezra made up his mind to be interested in the things of God.” He set his heart. He had the desire, He was willing.Have you ever said to yourself I want to know more about Christ, I want to know Him more? Have you made up your mind to find out more about Christ.I believe you have the answers to these questions.
2) Ezra didn’t just had the desire, he put his thought into actions by studying. Many at times we may have the desire to serve God, or to study the word of God, but it becomes difficult for us to make these desire happens only because we rely on our strength. We need the strength of God  to teach us his statutes (Psalm 119:12 ” Blessed are you, O LORD, teach me your statutes”)
Are the words of God sweet to you? Do you thirst for them? ( Psalm 119:103)
3) Ezra after studying the law of the LORD, did what the law commanded. Do we do what God tells us either by the messages we hear on sunday services, youth meetings, our personal devotions, etc or do we just hear them and ignore them? Do you love all Gods words or you like portions of it? Do you meditate on them day and night?( Psalm 1:2).
4) Lastly he taught others.Do you share what you learn with others? Are you confidence in sharing the word of God with others both believers and non-believers?( Psalm 96:3)
I believe from this time going, we will delight in the law of the Lord, and we will set our heart to study the law of God, we will do what the law teaches and we will share it with others by the help of the Holy Spirit.
God bless you.
