THE RESULT OF SELF EXALTATION, PRIDE AND ARROGANCE
THE RESULT OF SELF EXALTATION, PRIDE AND ARROGANCE
Bible Reference: Proverbs 30:32-33 “If you play the fool and exalt yourself, or if you plan evil, clap your hand over your mouth 33 For as churning cream produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife.”
We thank God for such a wonderful day and time like this, we give Him all the glory and praise for His mercies and love through His Son Jesus Christ. We thank Him for granting us sinners life and reserving his holy wrath that we might return to Him. We thank Him for His Holy Spirit given to us who continually convict us of our sins and brings to light our guilt and shame that we might walk in holiness and godliness. May His name be praise now and forever.
Today we will be looking at a topic that in my point view, most Christians in our generation are victim of which is the aspect of self exaltation, pride, arrogance etc which in most cases leads us to act foolishly as the scripture makes us understand.
We remember the account given in Numbers 16:1-35, which I will encourage those of us who have not read it to read in other to give you a clear picture of this important topic. In this account found in the book of Numbers 16, the consequences of self exaltation (Numbers 16:3), arrogance and pride (Numbers 16:12) is clearly seen (Numbers 16:31-35), which as upcoming believers should learn something out of this.
In our modern Christianity, we attest to fact that we believe in the totality of the bible (Old and New Testament) but when it comes to the wrath of God against the wicked or evil doers, we paint the God of the Old Testament as a wicked, unloving, impatient God but still believe our God is unchanging.
If indeed our God is unchanging which I know is true, then we should be careful in most of the things we do in our secrets, the things we purpose in heart, the things we think about daily and shouldn’t forget that, God will never leave the wicked unpunished.” he Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord takes vengeance and is filled with wrath. The Lord takes vengeance on his foes and vents his wrath against his enemies 3 The Lord is slow to anger but great in power; the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and clouds are the dust of his feet. 4 He rebukes the sea and dries it up; he makes all the rivers run dry. Bashan and Carmel wither and the blossoms of Lebanon fade”(Nahum 1:2-4)
This is the God we are joking with, it doesn’t matter how you sees Him to be, whether the God we have painted as wicked, unloving, uncaring or whatever, He is still the same and His words are true. I am not trying to scare you, neither am I trying to create a picture of any sought , but if the perfect LOVE of God demonstrated to us through CHRIST is not enough to lead us to continual piety, then we should be ready for the Lord on the day of judgement, when He will exercise His holy wrath on the wicked and cast the wicked into eternal suffering, there the wicked will know He is God.
God was loving, is loving and will forever be loving, if we understand how unworthy we were, and how we deserved nothing but the wrath of God, but through His perfect love, reconciled with us through Christ, this should be enough for us to put away all the wicked things we used to do and abide in Him.
Very soon the King of Kings will be coming, very soon the earth will shake, all that you are chasing after that has made you neglect God will be wiped off and consumed, where will we be in that day, what will God say to us on that, will God be proud of us, will the purpose of Christ crucifixion be made fruitful in us. This is the only time we, this is the moment and it is now, you have no idea how many days you have on this earth, you have no idea when the trumpet will be sound, the day of wrath for the wicked, the day of suffering for the wicked is near, repent for it is coming now.
Its unfortunate I couldn’t discuss the main topic for today, but I think its time we create awareness and stand fast to our faith and walk in the ways of God, for the Christianity in our generation in my point of view is a dying, hypocritical, self centered, powerless, weak, corrupt, and ineffective and that is why the world is mocking us not because we are doing something good as said in Matthew 10:22.
But I thank God, the grace is still available and God is always ready to restore unto us His power if only we run to him, if only we acknowledge that He is God, not just saying with our mouth, but demonstrating in all aspect of our, if only the church will realize we have been called for one and only purpose, that is to worship the creator ,if only we will spend quality time with God in prayers and study of His word, there the days of Paul, Peter, Daniel, Esther and the rest will be seen in our days.
Its my prayer that God will help us and strengthen us in all aspect of our life to come to a point where we will never rely on our strength, but in everything will look up to Christ.
God bless you.
