WHO CAN WITHSTAND THE INDIGNATION OF THE GREAT GOD?
Bible References: Nahum 1:6, “Who can stand before His indignation? Who can endure the burning of His anger? His wrath is poured out like fire and the rocks are broken up by Him”.
Good morning everyone,
It has pleased the great God once again to borrow unto us breath and we thank Him for such a wonderful gift of life. We thank Him for His mercies, love, protection and peace given unto us through Christ Jesus our savior. May His name be praised now and forever.
Today in our search for scripture, we will be looking at one of the great questions ever asked in the bible by the Supreme God. This question might be familiar to many of us, or perhaps may not sound like a big deal to us, unless you read it in respect of who God is and what it means for God to ask such a question.
In verse 2 of chapter 1 of this book, we see a wonderful description of the God of heavens. It is important to pay attention to some words used in the description of GOD.
- God is JEALOUS
- God is FURIOUS
- God will take VENGEANCE ON HIS ADVERSARIES
- God reserves WRATH for his enemies
These are words that most of us might not want it to be a descriptive of a loving God, and for that reasons many Christians in our generation tend to forget and some even don’t believe God will destroy the earth.
Having seen who this great God is, the question now is WHO CAN STAND BEFORE HIS INDIGNATION? Warnings upon warnings are given to us regarding the great judgement day which should lead us to holiness and fear God, but because we have little understanding of how terrifying this day will be, we neglect these warnings and continue disobeying God.
“God is slow to anger and great in power, and will never leave the wicked unpunished”, this should cause us to be terrified if we know what it means to be punished by God on the day of judgement.
In the book of Zephaniah, we see another great warning from God regarding the wicked and the unrighteous on the day of Gods anger and wrath. Zephaniah 3:8 “Therefore wait for Me,” declares the LORD, “For the day when I rise up as a witness Indeed, My decision is to gather nations, To assemble kingdoms, To pour out on them My indignation, All My burning anger; For all the earth will be devoured By the fire of My zeal”.
The purpose of this piece is not to scare u, but to remind you of a day coming, when the grace will be no more, where the will be no place for the wicked, all what we have toiled and struggled for on this earth will melt before this great God on that day.
It is real and it is coming soon, Christ is calling unto us to turn away from our wicked ways, the grace of God is still available for us.
If there is any time for us to serve this great God, it is now for very soon the trumpet will sound, and the king of kings will sit on the great white throne and pass his judgement unto all persons, both great and small, rich and poor, white and black etc, but the questions is WHO CAN STAND BEFORE THIS GREAT GOD ON THAT DAY.
May God help us to seek first the kingdom of God and may God save us from any ungodly life we find ourselves in, both in secret and those in open.
