WE ARE GIRDED WITH STRENGTH UNTO BATTLE BY THE LORD
WE ARE GIRDED WITH STRENGTH UNTO BATTLE BY THE LORD
Message preached by Pastor Daniel Dompreh
Bible Reference Psalm 18:39 “ For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose against me”.
Good morning believers in Christ,
We thank God for such a wonderful day and time like this. May the name of our Lord be praised now and forever.
Through the power of God, we were blessed with a powerful message of encouragement that we need as young Christians at this time and part of the world.
Listening to this message by Pastor Daniel Dompreh, District pastor for Edmonton, I was motivated by the encouragement given to us and decided to share with other believers.
From the bible verse, it was made clear to us by the preacher that, David admitted that he had a battle and as Christians it is important for us to admit that we have a battle but the greatest assurance we have is that GOD HAS ARMED US WITH THE STRENGTH UNTO BATTLE.
The following were some of the kinds of battle as Christians we may be facing but not limited to.
1) Financial battle
2) Relational battle
3) Health battle
4) Battle of purpose life
5) Career battle
6) Deep spiritual battle
7) Faith battle
8) Battle in leaving a holy life for the Lord
I was impressed that the preacher made it clear that among these listed but, the most important as Christians are spiritual battle, faith battle and battle of leaving a holy life for God.
SPIRITUAL BATTLE
Paul in his letter to the people at Ephesus, made it clear that “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places” and as we well made known by Pastor Dompreh that Paul the great Apostle had battle himself.
Many of us are faced with such spiritual battle some of which we don’t even know, but as Christians the bible has made it clear in 2 Timothy 1:7 “For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline”. This is the great assurance we have from God.
Paul also in his letter to the church at Corinth 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,4 for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses”.
Also remember what is written in the book of Zechariah 4:6 “Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts”.
BATTLE TO LIVE A HOLY LIFE FOR GOD
As Christians who serve a holy God, it is also expected that we live a holy life, but we shouldn’t forget the words spoken by Christ concerning the devil in the book of John 10:10 “ The thief cometh not, but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I came that they may have life, and may have [it] abundantly”. There are many of us who are struggling with certain things in our life, my struggle might be different from yours, but the commandment is same and true for us all that we should be holy as God is holy.
Not living a holy life as Christians is one of the greatest battle we can ever have as Christians but all hope is not lost, the grace of God is still available to overcome such battle and to live a holy life.
One of my favorite passages by Apostle Paul with regards to holiness which is found in the book of Romans 13:12-14 should encourage you to live a holy life for God “The night is almost gone, and the day is near Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts”.
Apostle Peter also put it in a more serious way about why we need to live a holy life in 1 Peter 2:11 “Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts which wage war against the soul”.
Its my prayer God as he has promised will grant us the strength to overcome every battle we may face in our Christian walk.
God bless you
